Dinner guests will arrive in an hour and you don't have any silver polish on hand. Try this simple—but effective—alternative.
1 cup baking soda
dash of salt
Put the plug in your kitchen sink, then line with aluminum foil. Lay the tarnished silver pieces on top of the foil.
Pour in 1 gallon of boiling water, 1 cup of baking soda and a dash of salt. Let sit for 15 minutes. The tarnish should transfer from the silver to the foil.
